Westward Ho! Near Bideford, North Devon, is one of those rare shore fishing marks that offers something to almost every angler. All within a short distance of each other, Westward Ho! offers rock fishing, beach fishing and estuary fishing.
The main stretch of beach at Westward Ho! is a good North Devon Bass Fishing Mark – with Peeler Crab and live Sand Eel being the bait of choice.
From the rocks around Westward Ho!, predominantly summer species such as Bass, Wrasse, Mackerel, Garfish and even Smoothhound are on the cards. Year round these fishing marks are also productive for Dogfish and Pollack, with a possibility of Cod and Whiting in the winter also. As with all rock fishing, however, safety can be a concern and caution is advised.
